First Class – Our Museum
First class started a class museum recently. We talked about the things which you would see displayed in a museum and then everybody went home to find things of interest from the past. Some people brought in things from their own past and others brought in things which their parents or grandparents used. They were all very interesting so we took some pictures for everybody to see.
Rackard League Champions 2012
Heartiest congratulations and very well done to the boys of Ballygarrett and Riverchapel schools on winning the Distict Final of Roinn B hurling. In a high quality game they defeated Oulart on the scoreline of Ballygarrett 4-8 Oulart 2-2. They now go forward to contest the County semi-final and we wish them the very best of luck.

Trip to New York
The Cosgrave School of Irish Dancing were invited to New York City to dance for St. Patrick’s Day. Five pupils from St. Mary’s N.S were part of the group. Their names are Lauren Dench, Áine Neary, Carragh Murphy, Eve Loughlin and Abbey Tomkins.
We went for five days and flew out on the Thursday and came back on the Tuesday. The flight took seven and a half hours. When we arrived we were so excited. We got a bus to the hotel ( Hotel Edison on Times Square ) which took about forty minutes. We checked in and then we went out to Times Square for a look around. On the Saturday it was St. Patrick’s Day. We danced in the hotel lobby at ten o’clock. When we finished we went to Times Square where we also danced.
We then had lunch and had to meet up again at 2 o’clock to go to the parade. There was a massive crowd to get through. We then had a long wait until we started to walk. We walked down 40 blocks in total and finished on 5th Avenue. It was quite tiring! When we finished marching we went to an Irish party where we also danced. Sunday was a lazy day!
We left the hotel on Monday at three o’clock and we boarded our flight in Kennedy Airport at around seven in the evening. The way back was only six hours because of the wind. We flew to London Heathrow and we then boarded a flight to Dublin. It was a super trip we have unforgettable memories!

Easter Baskets
Junior Infants got creative this week. They used mushroom containers, brightly coloured crepe and tissue paper and pipe cleaners to make some really lovely Easter Baskets. On their arrival to school on Thursday morning everyone was delighted to discover chocolate eggs in the baskets. There must have been a special Easter visitor during the night!!
